Description
Galaxy Inc. is a workplace comedy consisting of 10 half-hour episodes.
Set just a few years in the future, the private space tourism industry is about to kick off. Every social influencer and makeup tutorial star is in line to get a space selfie. But, zipping around the Earth at 17,000 mph is nothing compared to being the first person to step foot on Mars.
If getting to Mars were easy, there’d already be a Starbucks there. Solving the technology problem is an endeavor of
its own, but getting past funding, politics and egos may
be the hardest.
Galaxy Inc. explores the misgivings and shenanigans of an underdog company faced with the greatest challenge known to mankind...
...ourselves.

The Fermi Paradox
As humans, we have a primal extinct to explore. But, besides the vast depths of the ocean and what really happened to 2pac, there’s little left to explore here on Earth. So, naturally, we turn to the sky.
If you hold your fist up to the night sky, that small area contains BILLIONS of galaxies. Each galaxy has BILLIONS of stars, each star has its own solar system, each solar system contains a number of planets. There are TRILLIONS of these planets just in your closed fist.
Assuming that there are a seemingly infinite number of planets and Earth isn’t the only one capable of life, then... where is everybody?
In all probability, we should have heard from something by now. One theory on why we haven’t, is ominously called...

Galaxy Inc.
Company Profile

Galaxy Inc. was once the company that Space X currently strives to be. The vision of Galaxy Inc. was pioneered by serial entrepreneur and billionaire tech mogul Deandre ‘Deandrepraneur’ Michaels. The company was run like an innovative all-night-rager and everyone wanted an invite.
Prior to pursuing space tourism, Galaxy Inc. took the monumental step of connecting the entire world with free public WiFi known as ‘GalaxyNet.’ Initially funded by Deandre, it uses a mesh network of satellites that are crowd-funded by citizens and countries to provide what Deandre argued is a ‘human right of connection.’ Where other companies would seize the opportunity to capitalize on data or ad-space, Deandre kept GalaxyNet open-source and free, thus avoiding most international regulation or competition. It also placed Deandre and Galaxy Inc. into the stratosphere as the first tech company that cared more about street cred than Wall Street.
But, the fall from the top is quick...
The Basement

Due to a mix-up in HR, a group of scientists (The Misfits) have found themselves in an old, forgotten storage basement.
The Misfits, made up of Alan Remmick, Becca Kwan, and David Nelson, have occupied the basement for nearly five years. In this time, they’ve pioneered some impressive upgrades and self-fulfilling innovations, including a fully-stocked lab, a greenhouse, and even a “they-cave” (which is a non-gender conforming man-cave).
The basement appears futuristic, but simultaneously looks held together by zip ties and broken dreams.
The environment plays an integral role
in our story, allowing for a space where our characters can think freely and creatively. The only boss they answer to is themselves. The space acts as a mindset for our characters and their unorthodox ways, which may or may not have the positive impact they’ve perceived.
Character Profiles
SHAWN DENVER
27
Launch Systems Coordinator - Galaxy Inc.
Profile
Shawn Denver (of no relation to the musician) was born in raised in the city of Akron, Ohio to a loving mother and father. His father, who was obsessed with airplanes, but lacked a proper education, worked as a janitor at a large aviation manufacturing plant. This sparked Shawn’s unending interest in aeronautics, and eventually, space travel. An unfortunate, and arguably avoidable incident at work led to the untimely death of his father.
The courts ruled in favor of the aviation manufacturing company claiming the incident was not their fault. This left Shawn with a large chip on his shoulder for authority and poor-management. Determined to make his father proud, he graduated with honors and began working at Vect0r, a respectable space logistics company. However, tragedy once again found Shawn
He was terminated after getting hammered drunk at the office Christmas party and shitting on his boss’s desk. The act of defiance was caught on camera and the Dookeygate video went viral in the tech community.
Shawn, now virtually unhireable, took a position at the only place that would even consider interviewing him... the last remaining RadioShack in America. After a few years, Shawn was greeted with luck when Galaxy Inc. plummeted. Now being given a new lease on life, Shawn is determined to be the best employee the company has seen, make his family proud, and not shit on any desks - like not even a single one desk at all.
DEANDRE MICHAELS
48
CEO - Galaxy Inc.
Profile
The eccentric CEO and founder of Galaxy Inc. Growing up as the only black kid in his suburb, Deandre believed he had to fit a stereotype and hide his passion for science. He debuted his first invention under a pseudonym, but after its rapid success, he learned his passion could grant him fame and fortune. His ventures began to snowball, using the success of one to fund the next. It was once said, “Deandre Michaels would cut the brake lines in his own car if he knew they were slowing him down.”
His first worldwide venture, an airline exclusively for emotional support animals, was the predecessor which funded Galaxy Inc. and Deandre’s dream for the stars. His vision for Galaxy Inc. was more humanitarian than tech, but the various inventions to come out under the brand launched Deandre into rockstar status.
After tragedy strikes Galaxy Inc., Deandre is faced with something he has never truly experienced... failure. Now, as a person whose only direction has been ‘forward,’ Deandre must look back to learn that while power can be bought, there is no price on integrity.
SARAH LARSON
32
COO - Galaxy Inc.
Profile
One of the first hires at Galaxy Inc., Sarah quickly climbed the startup latter through her wit and preparedness, landing alongside Deandre with the role of COO.
As a teen, her mom pushed her to pursue modeling and “marry rich.” She was forced to enter a beauty contest and for the ‘talent’ portion, she created a carbon scrubber to remove CO2 from the air while on stage. The same poster of Sally Ride that she had when she was six years old hangs in her corner office at Galaxy Inc.
Her dream has been realized and she will not allow anyone or anything to stand in her way. In the new space race and an industry dominated by men, Sarah is the front-runner to captain the first human mission to Mars.
LOGAN JAMES

CEO - Stellar Longevity
Profile
Founder and CEO of Stellar Longevity. He was previously college schoolmates and best friends with Deandre Michaels, but they had a falling out. Logan secretly idolizes and often mimics Deandre in many ways, but would never admit it.
His company lived in the shadow of Galaxy Inc. until the Lance Bass disaster allowed them the opportunity to become the leader in space innovation. Logan is a cocky, pompous man who wears deep V’s, but secretly merely craves acceptance.

Series Overview
After pop-star LANCE BASS tragically explodes into a thousand tiny pieces aboard GALAXY INC.’s maiden space tourism flight, the company crumbles in the wake
of public backlash. To save his company from certain collapse, CEO DEANDRE MICHAELS must secure a contract from RON VARGAS, Head of NASA, in attempts to propel humanity to its next stage... life on Mars. But, there is one major obstacle between getting humans to Mars - lightweight radiation shielding. Without this shielding, passengers would die in transit.
The misfortunes of Galaxy Inc. prove to be just the blessing SHAWN DENVER needs. After an unflattering video of Shawn from a previous job went viral (he got drunk at a holiday party and shit on his boss’s desk) he was deemed virtually unemployable. In an effort to turn his life around, he has given up drinking and taken up an opportunity at a dying space tech company, which may be his last chance to resurrect his career.
On his first day, Shawn is assigned to the wrong position and meets a group of MISFIT SCIENTISTS in a forgotten storage basement on campus. When they all get stoned and microwave an ice cream sandwich - they inadvertently solve the lightweight radiation problem and secure the NASA contract for Mars, essentially saving the company. Under the supervision of SARAH LARSON, the COO of Galaxy Inc., the team is tasked with overseeing multiple aspects of the Mars rocket build
- a giant leap from the basement. Shawn and Deandre develop a friendship, with Deandre giving Shawn his favorite Alanis Morissette CD.
The NASA contract does come with one stipulation, however... Galaxy Inc. must team up with top competitor STELLAR LONGEVITY, run by Deandre’s arch-nemesis LOGAN JAMES. Left with no choice, the two companies open their doors to one another, but tensions are high. It doesn’t take long before the task of building a Mars spacecraft becomes dwarfed by prank wars and an inability to work together for one common goal. Company vs. Company.
But time is a luxury. In order to succeed, the Mars launch must happen during the coming Mars Transfer Orbit window; a window which only occurs once every two years. If the launch does not happen within this window, POTUS has made it clear that NASA will be absorbed by the DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE. The American public feel it would be better to consolidate resources and funding.
This is NASA’s final chance to prove its worth. The stress on the success of this mission weighs heavily on Ron and becomes evident in his questionable actions. Enter the Department of Defense: A corrupt, ominous presence that sees everything. In an effort to preserve “national security” around Galaxy Inc.’s newfound radiation shielding, the DoD assigns an ambassador, VICTOR SMART, to monitor the secrecy of the mission.
Shawn and Sarah remain suspicious of Victor, however, and decide to keep
close tabs on him. One night, while spying on Victor, the pair follow him to an old weapons testing field and hide out in an abandoned bunker. Victor plays a lesson from a Kung-Fu masterclass on his phone and begins practicing for hours. Shawn and Sarah are trapped, unable to leave their close spy quarters for fear of being caught and kung-fu’d by Victor. It’s at this moment Sarah and Shawn begin to acknowledge their feelings towards each other. This is also when we find out that Victor has a foot fetish, but that’s a whole other thing.
The DoD attempts to gain access to GALAXYNET - a worldwide, free public WiFi service - from its creator Deandre. They argue this step is necessary to monitor that the newly developed radiation technology does not fall into enemy hands. Deandre refuses citing the public’s right to privacy. We quickly learn the ulterior motive of the DoD is to obtain GalaxyNet’s wealth of data from its billions of users.
Ron becomes a pawn in the DoD’s power hungry scheme and begins to impose restrictions that stifle all progress in the name of “security.” Shawn and his team demand outside help from foreign countries with construction on the ship, but their concerns fall on deaf ears. This raises suspicions regarding the motives of Ron and the DoD.
The battle for control and power comes to a head when the DoD corners Deandre with demands that he builds a backdoor to GalaxyNet. Deandre stands firm in a way we’ve not quite seen yet. The DoD then drops the bombshell... Galaxy Inc. was in fact at fault for the explosion that blew Lance Bass into thousands of tiny, little, frozen pop-star pieces. If the public knew Galaxy Inc. was at fault, the massive drop in users on GalaxyNet would render the data collection by the DoD useless. This crushes Deandre and he begins to spiral. Not only has he learned that he
is responsible for the death of America’s Sweetheart, but now he’s faced with a decision that has no positive outcome: hand over the public’s private data, or, let the world know the truth of the explosion and watch his company crumble.
In an effort to maintain maximum security, Deandre is the only person with the access key to GalaxyNet. But, he also realizes that outing Galaxy Inc. would be the DoD’s last resort as public trust in GalaxyNet would fall. Their threat is merely an intimidation factor. The only logical move Deandre has left is... to leave.
The following day, Logan James is ecstatic to find documents signed by Deandre effectively leaving him in control of both companies. Logan interprets this as a victory. “Deandre could not handle the pressure.” No one, not even the DoD can locate Deandre. He’s disappeared. Logan relishes in the newly found power and rules with an iron fist. His ego is so inflated he doesn’t notice the obvious attempts of the DoD, Ron, and Victor trying to crack GalaxyNet.
The new leadership proves very stressful for Galaxy Inc. employees. Tensions
are high and employees begin to bicker. Sarah and Shawn’s relationship begins
to crumble under the circumstances. Victor, using this moment of weakness as
an opportunity, coaxes Shawn into a night of drinking. Shawn gives in. After a few drinks, Shawn calls the Misfits and they throw a party in the hangar where the Mars technology is being developed. Victor proceeds to secretly take videos of the crew as they casually chat about top secret information and talk at length about their hate for Logan. Shawn also complains about Sarah. Victor shows the video to both Logan and Sarah, posed as a security threat. Shawn and the team are fired on the spot.
As Shawn packs his belongings and heads out late that night, he decides to stop by Deandre’s empty office to return his Alanis Morissette CD. He ducks behind a cabinet when he is surprised by Victor breaking in searching for intel on GalaxyNet. He rushes to Sarah to inform her their suspicions were correct and they relay the information to Logan. Not only is Logan surprised, but he’s annoyed, realizing “Deandre didn’t break under pressure, he kept his promise to billions of people. Deandre is a better person than me... and I won’t let that happen.” They have to find Deandre before GalaxyNet is cracked, the only problem is... no one knows where he is. Until Logan admits that he planted a subdermal tracking device on Deandre years ago to always monitor his every move.
They locate Deandre who is at an unsanctioned nudist colony deep in the remote jungles of Central Florida. Logan James decides it’s best if he go in alone. He strips down naked and finds an almost unrecognizable Deandre working at the nudist equivalent of a Subway sandwich shop. Deandre is a new man. He feels free and loves his new life.
Him and Logan have a naked heart-to-heart and Deandre reveals the truth behind the Galaxy Inc. catastrophe. He decides the public deserves to everything...
Deandre, Logan, Shawn, and Sarah arrive at Galaxy Inc. just in time to find Ron and Victor locked in the server room. Victor is manually hacking into the GalaxyNet server. Deandre stares helpless through the security window at his old friend Ron, pleading with him. In a moment of self-reflection, Ron realizes his misguided motives. He pushes Victor away and grabs the server with his bare hands, yanking it out of the wall. Sparks fly and Ron screams, pulling it within all his might. Surges of electricity course through his body as he turns and throws it over the railing (a la Darth Vader) then collapses on the ground. This disables the security doors and takes GalaxyNet offline. As Deandre rushes in, Victor panics and runs to jump out of the window, forgetting they are 15 floors up. He dies. Deandre grabs a dying Ron and supports his head as they share their last fews words. Ron apologizes for everything “Greed is a powerful machine.”
Deandre takes the newfound information public in an announcement video.
He takes full responsibility for the death of Lance Bass, to which the public is surprisingly understanding of - “Exploration is not without risks, and as a risk taker of pop music and dance, Lance would have understood.” Deandre also calls on the help of the world, “Tasks this big are not completed by one company, nor even one nation. The endeavor of traversing our galaxy requires an entire planet. That’s why we’re calling on the brightest minds across the globe to help accomplish this feat.”
Deandre then heads to meet with the head of the DoD to address the corruption within the organization head-on. He will keep their secrets for the good of the public, but they will clean house, keeping their hands off Galaxy Inc. and Stellar Longevity.
Deandre regains control as CEO of Galaxy Inc. With Stellar Longevity at their side, the two companies unite with other nations to each construct their own module, which will all assemble into one before making the journey to Mars.
Season one wraps with Sarah, Shawn, and David, among other astronaut selects, ready to jettison into space. At the last moment, Deandre walks on, “I paid for most of this shit, and I’m not giving it away for free. It’s not like I’m fuckin’ any of you.” We individually close in on each of their eyes as the countdown clock starts.
“3... 2... 1...” - End of Season 1.
